Asked for username and PW when configuring backup on mapped drive

I am trying to set a a backup using Vista's "Backup and Restore Center" on to
a mapped Iomega networked drive. In the wizard, I select the "Back up files
Option", select the "On a network" option, and select the
\\iomega\netHDD\Backup folder I created. I'm asked to enter a Username and
Password. No usernames have been configured on the share (and I can browse
the mapped drive (N:\) freely). Leaving the fields blank, throws a "you must
provide a user name and password to access the shared network folder"
warning.

What is the problem and how can it be resolved? Thanks

There should be....
(and I can browse
the mapped drive (N:\) freely).

Then enter *your* username and password....

Leaving the fields blank, throws a "you must

warning.

As well it should....
What is the problem and how can it be resolved? Thanks

The problem seems rather clear to me; you need to enter a username and
password. Do so.

The problem is that you are actually logging into the remote computer for
the purpose of writing to the remote folder. For this task, you must enter
a username and password.

Thanks for Ur time Jim,
There is no remote computer. The network drive is attached to a router via
ethernet. I mapped the folder and assigned it a username/pw combination.
Running the Back Up Files wizard, I get the following error: The network
share could not be accessed for the following reason: No mapping between
account names and security IDs was done (0x80070534). Please ensure that the
network location is valid.
The network drive and folders are accessible through Wndows Explorer (no
username/pw requested though, and they are not my Winodws login/pw
combination). Grrrr

Your answer is straightforward and self evident, but it still doesn't work:
I mapped the folder again and assigned it a username/pw combination as U
said. Running the Back Up Files wizard, I get the following error: The
network share could not be accessed for the following reason: No mapping
between account names and security IDs was done (0x80070534). Please ensure
that the network location is valid.
The network drive and folders are accessible through Wndows Explorer (no
username/pw requested though, and they are not my Winodws login/pw
combination). BTW, the "smart-questions" link is super advice!
