Backup Utility

I backed up "everything on this computer" to my external
hard drive. When I compare disk sizes, The external hard
drive is showing almost 3GB less than my C: drive and
it's not set to compress. Any ideas why it's not an exact
match?
I'd like to see the folders I've backed up (like in
Windows Explorer format) so I can compare the sizes of
individual folders (backed up versus C: drive) but
everytime I try to open the backed up data, The Utility
Wizard shows up. Is there a way to open up my backup
folder without the Wizard opening?

Did you use the ASR wizard to create the .bkf file?

Then it is because the XP OS is not a part of the file. It is reinstalled as the first step in restoring the computer using ASR at boot time.

To view or restore individual files from .bkf follow the directions found here; Use Backup to Restore Files and Folders on Your Computer in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q309340 HTH.
