Backup Utility Error

Everytime I try to use the backup utility I get an
error "file size is limited to 4gb or you don't have
enough space" Neither is true. How can I correct this?

If you're trying to backup to a fat32 or 16 then you're
going to get the 4gb limit, that is as large as a file
can be for that format.
