Hi

If you are running XP Home the backup utility isn't installed by default.
Have a look in the following folder on the XP CD:

valueadd\msft\ntbackup

See this link http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windowsxp_tips.htm#backup_home
I trust that you are aware of the limitations of NTBackup. It truly is a
watered down version of the app it is based on. It has no ability to write
directly to CD or DVD media, it has no native ability to split large files
and the home version cannot create an ASR. I suggest you look at decent
third party backup software.

Pls, where do I find XP's (XP Home) BackUp utilities?

Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on XP Home. If
you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the CD, in
\ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself by doubleclicking the file
ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at

Okay, I looked at the CD and it says something about Home Edition
lacking full functionality and that I can't make ASR. Is that like LSD?
I see the later post that says get a 3rd party utility, so I am now
searching for same. Thanks for all the great info you guys provide!!

Hi

You can't use ASR with XP Home Edition - no. There are some 3rd party
programs about that do work with XP.
