Hi I'm kind of new to this, I have a windows backup file that I want to
restore. The file is on my computer and is a backup of my mum's PC. I don't
have a ASR disk set (it got lost). Is it still possible to get all the system
settings, documents and users etc restored from the backup file I have on my
computer restored back on to my mum's PC? If so how do I do it?? Both PC's
have firewire cards so I guess I could try to network them using that if
possible but I'm not sure how to restore the backup set. Please help. The
backup file is 7.5GB!!

It is possible to recreate the ASR floppy from the backup set.

I had a look at the article that you mentioned but, when I opened the backup
set and looked at the Windows_folder/Repair the two files (Asr.sif and
Asrpnp.sif) are not there. Does this mean I cannot restore?? I had a look in
most of the other folders it looks like everying was backed up. I don't know
what I did wrong?? Can you offer any other help please.

:

That would mean it wasn't created with the ASR wizard otherwise those
files would be there. No, sorry I don't have anything else to suggest.

Thanks Rock, It's a shame I thought I'd done the backup correctly. Again
thanks for the help

You're welcome. Sorry the resolution couldn't be better.

Thats OK I guess I know for next time! Still I wish there was a way around
it, even if I could just get the users profiles back that would have been
great, but wasn't to be!

Thanks once again
