Joe S.

I need to back up my three websites. The sites were made in MS FP2003; I do
all editing on my HD and publish to the host server. Each site is in a
separate folder on the HD under My Webs.

I want to back up the sites to a CD -- I figure I will make a back up at
least once a month -- I really don't change the sites that much.

Should I:
-- Copy each folder to the CD?
-- Backup to the CD? - or -
-- Publish to the CD?

Thanks.

If these are Disc based webs, Zip (in Windows XP right click the folder
containing the web and use "Send to ->Compressed (Zipped) Folder") the
websites and copy the zip files to the CD.

If server based webs, Publish to a folder on the hard disc (if there are
any warnings about components not working, agree to continue publishing),
then zip the new folder and burn the zip files to CD. When restoring,
extract the Zip to a folder on the Hard disc, then Publish to
http://localhost/webname

Using a ZIP file makes it easier to restore the site if ever needed, since
it will not be necessary to remove the Read Only attributes from the
individual files that are added when files are burnt to CDR.
