FP 2003 Batch Publishing?

A

Allan G.

I am running FP2003 and operate 20+ websites. I would like to backup these
sites as a batch and publish them to either a CD or a backup file on my
server. I know how to publish on a site by site basis but don't want to
have to open each individual site to do this as I'd like to be able to do
this routinely as a batch file. Is anyone aware of a tool to do this?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Take a look at the Jimco Publisher
http://www.jimcoaddins.com/

If that doesn't do it you'll need to write a VBA to cycle thru them

If you want to backup the "live" sites on your host's
server, I think you'd have to schedule a batch job that
FTPed them to whatever backup area you like.

However, if you always follow the recommended procedure
of updating a a local copy of each site and then
Publishing, backing up the local copy is just as good.
And you can do that using any normal backup or CD-writer
program.

Backing up Access databases is a little trickier, because
presumably you've cleared the Allow Files To Be Browsed
setting from any folders that contain them. Password-
protected FTP is an option, as is a password-protected
page that transmits the database as a download file.

Backing up SQL Server, Oracle, or MySql databases is
either your host's responsibility, or yours if the
necessary ports are open. You would use the tools that
come with the DBMS for this.
