Well, if you already doing the sysstate, sysvol , full backup of the DC then
the other thing you can do is to add additional DC in your environment that
will provide you with fault tolerance and redundancy in case one DC crashes.

Just one last thing. What does the sysstate and sysvol do? I am working on a
process management and I need to add that in my documentation.
Active Directory has something called "system state" that holds the
essential AD configuration, schema and domain NC data which you need in your
backup in order to restore it to other server in case the original goes
down. The SYSvolume is the part of the AD that holds your Group Policy
Object information, its GUID and its Computer /User specific settings. You
need to atleast back up these two things in order to restore a Domain
Controller. A full backup would include everything i,.e Data, AD Ntds.dit
database, system vol, system state.
Another machine with a large hard drive and xcopy?
