backup: how to restore?

Martein

Hi,

I need to restore a file from a back-up tape, but I can't really figure
out how. I use the standard software which comes with Windows 2000 server.
What I know for sure is that backing up worked, I check the log files
every day which states that 29 gb is backed-up in about 2 hours and
after that checked in about the same amount of time. I use 5 tapes which
are used from monday till friday. Everytime a tape is used, information
is is overwritten and a full backup is made.
My problem is however, finding a way to restore a file. When I look
under the tab restore I see several tape icons listed, but the all have
the same description. I guess something went wrong while setting up the
backup-name-thing. When I click right on a tape icon it show also an
option called remove from system (in Dutch van systeem verwijderen).
I would appreciate some help here,

Thanks for your time.

Until you fix your naming convention, you will have to use the Tools / Report
to view the logs to determine the Media #.

See tip 2265 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com to change future
tape labels to record Date and Time.
