backup files

I am trying to open backup files of documents created in windows 98. I am
now using windows xp media edition.The file ends with .qic and I get a
message the file can't be read. How do I open them up?

XP (as you see) does not support .qic

Try to find a win9x machine to perform the restore...
(Win95, win98 or WinME)

Otherwise...there is probably 3rd party software avail if you look on
google.
