BACKUP,ERD,Recovery Console Tutorials

Hi,

Can someone send me links to tutorials or KB articles, like WHY AND HOWTO:
use W2000 backup, Recovery console, ERD etc.
I am interested in basic concepts and how to deploy them.
For instance, in Windows 2000 Help, there are explanations about types of
backup: "normal", "incremental", but still I don`t know why and when to use
what.

Regards,
Vladimir

Hi

You'll find TONS of useful stuff here

A normal backup takes all files copies them to a backup
file and marks them as backed up, an incremental only
copies files that have changed since the last normal
backup.

if you have a library of media to use, I would offer a
schedule of backups, depending on your usage of the device
once a month do a full backup, twice a month do an
incremental . always before an update/patch application
do a full also backin up system state, VERY important.
to also backup system state when doing backups

The problem is that there is too much space on hard disk, currently I do not
have backup device with tapes etc.
So, I want to make a:
1) WEEKLY FULL (Normal) backup and every next backup should replace old
file, so that size of backup file reflects current size of data, not
cumulative.
2) DAILY BACKUP: only some folders which change on a daily basis, how to
back it up in to save as much space on disk as possible.

Well, that's one good thing you can say about those virusmeisters.
They will make a believer out of a lot of folks, sooner or later.
As soon as they are forced to do their first Clean Install, they don't mind paying
a little for software, or at least paying a little attention anyways.

Must be a double edges sword here somewhere,

.... of course though there's always that sneaky feeling that the AV fims
have a vested interest in new virus's being released ... not that I'm
paranoid or anything ;o)
