backspace key too slow

When holding backspace and/or arrow keys the bar jumps one letter
at-the-time. Far too slowl, compared to the way it always worked.
What controls the speed of these (repeating) functions?
Thanks for help.
 
This may be the result of a setting in Windows Control Panel | Accessibility
Options.

You might also check the Keyboard & Mouse Control Panel - specifically the
Keyboard settings for Delay Before Repeat & Repeat Rate.

Just FWIW, you might be even better off to learn some techniques for
_selecting_ the content you want to delete & having to press Delete or
Backspace only *once*... Far faster, far more accurate & far less strain on
your wrist & fingers :)
