Backing up

When I backup business contact mgr I have been selecting Accounts in business
contact mgr then backing up to a file in my documents. My question is does
the other two areas contacts, and business contacts also get backed up. Is it
all part of bcm. or do I have to do all three seperatly

What procedure are you using to backup? What you describe doesn't resemble
the backup function in BCM.

Under my contacts in bcm there is 3 areas- contacts, accounts in bcm, and
business contacts in bcm. I usually click accounts in bcm then under file
choose business data base then backup. I then backup to a folder in my
documents which is then backed up with the rest of my computer to a external
drive. because bcm does not function like the rest of the pst. files I was
told this was the best way. My question is when I click just accounts in bcm
is that including the other two areas contacts, and business contacts. The
problem with the backup of bcm I cant open the files on my external drive to
check that everything is there like I can with other documents that are
backed up.

I don't have that function under my File menu. I back up my database from
manage database undre the Business Tools menu. It backs up everything BCM
related.

You might test restoring your database on another machine. When I tried
restoring a BCM database to another machine, I got the message "You cannot
restore this database because you were not a user when the database was
backed up...". I was able to migrate BCM data by exporting the data on the
old machine and importing it on the new machine.

My suggestion is to do both - backup and export. The backup is good for
restoring on the same machine and the export is good for migrating to a new
machine.
