backing up new files only

Periodically I back-up folders/files to a cdrw or dvdrw....my question
is...is there anything in XP that lets you copy/save only the new stuff
you've added in a folder without having to do select-all and having all the
old stuff copied over along with the new stuff to a back-up cd/dvd....i have
several photo albums i add stuff to..it would be nice not to have to keep
creating new folders all the time just so you don't have old files being
recopied onto the disks...backing up the favorites folder for ie presents the
same problem as it wants to copy EVERYTHING all over again instead of just
copying your new bookmarks...if XP doesn't have anything that lets you do
this...are there any freeware parograms or inexpensive file management
progarms out there that will let you do this?...thanks...

I use Nero and dont have this problem as it only copies new or updated
files. What programme do you use?

There is nothing native to XP that does this. I particularly like the backup
program Second Copy from www.centered.com. It isn't free, but it is
inexpensive ($30USD). I've used it many times for clients, both home and
small business users.

Backup.exe or ntbackup.exe, whichever came with XP, will do just that.

What? The XP native backup program will do that just fine. What am I
missing?

FIRST: "..." is not a substitute for proper paragraphing.

Your post was so unreadable from that standpoint alone that you're
lucky that I'm even taking the time to reply. Your grammar sucks
too..

I am ONLY replying because I think that a program I use for such tasks
is absolutely WONDERFUL.

What you are asking about is an incremental backup. Find this subject in
the help menu for whichever backup program you are using.
Ntbackup may do this. As I never make such a thing, I would not know.

Common sense would dictate that if you don't know from experience, you
shouldn't reply.

"badlands17" -First let me state - do not let "Uncle Grumpy" get to you.
Your post was understandable.
On to the remark about your grammar- get this from "Uncle Gumpy": "Your post
was so unreadable from that standpoint alone that you're lucky that I'm
even taking the time to reply." how about some correction to "Your post was
unreadable, from that standpoint alone, you're lucky I'm even taking time
to reply."

Oh Yes - Again from "Uncle Grumpy": ""..." is not a substitute for proper
paragraphing." Uncle Grumpy it is possible "badlands17" was intending to
use an "ellipsis" - by the way "paragraphing"?

Thanks to everyone for their responses. The www.centered.com program looks
like it should work. I looked for the backup.exe and ntbackup.exe that Pop
suggested but cannot find it with my XP. I did a file search and nothing came
up. Jim was right. I am mainly looking to do incremental backups as I add new
files to a folder. So thanks again to everyone. Oh, and AJR, don't worry,
this is the net so I don't let people like Uncle Grumpy get to me. At least
he chose an appropriate screen name...LOL...:)

Ntbackup is not installed by default in XP Home. It is on the retail and
some OEM install CDs in this folder:
\MSFT\ValueADD\Ntbackup ntbackup.msi. If it's not on the CD download it
from here: http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windowsxp_tips.htm#backup_home
