Hello Everybody.

I am running Windows XP home eddition, I have a Nero Smartstart, and
Musicmatch.

What I would like to do is Back up all my music and Photos onto DVD's. I
have alot of Music and Photos and instead on reinstalling music one 20 song
disk at a time I would rather prefer if My computer crashes or I just
reformat to only put in a few DVD's.

Does anybody know if
A. This is actually possable to do. or
B. How to do it?
C. What do I need to actually make it happen?

Thanks every one
Matt

A) yes
B) Either manually with Nero ie you have to select the files to backup, or
automatically with any one of the many Backup Apps available.
Some are free, or available with PC mag cd/dvd's
C) see B

PS The default win app NTBackup cannot backup direct to cd/dvd

MusicMatch is just a Player and can also be used for Ripping Audio CD. I will
suggest you to backup all of your songs and photos using Nero StartSmart.

Use different format for both Songs and Pictures. Means, for songs use
"Audio Section" - "MP3 Songs" and for Pictures use "Photo and Video Section"
- "Video CD". This way you can also play your DVDs on your DVD Player.
Otherwise, you can also use Data CD/DVD type for both kind of files.

Following is just for information:

I never backup my songs and pictures. What I do is use a seprate partition
for all of songs and pictures. For instance, I have 80GB HDD with 4
partitions 20GB each with C,D,E, & F drive letters. I always copy or download
all of my songs and pictures on F partitions and D,E, & F partitions for
other data. So in any case, I have to do a clean reinstall of Windows then I
can easily format my C Drive.

Further, I do a little bit PC repair job too. So when a customer comes to me
with a corruptted Windows then I never copy their data on CD or DVDs. I
always backup them on another partitions.

In other words, you must take backup on removable device, so in any case if
your hard disk crash then you still be lucky.

Hope this help, let us know!

And if the hd fails, so do all the partitions.

Use Nero to copy the files to DVD.
