Backing up Excel file

Hello all,

Is there another way to back up an Excel file, besides the AutoRecover
settings in Options and the Always Create Backup feature in the General
Options of Save As?

What I am looking to do is to create a backup copy automatically in a
directory that I want (other than the directory where the original is).

Thanks for your response. I am looking for something to create a backup
automatically. The "Always Create Backup" does create a backup
automatically, but the backup is saved in the same folder as the original. I
didn't find an option for me to select a directory to save the backup.

First, autorecovery doesn't create backups that you can use. It's there to
catch windows/excel crashes.

AutoSave (from xl2k and previous versions) would overwrite the existing file--so
that's out.

But...

You may want to consider using Jan Karel Pieterse's addin called AutoSafe (note
spelling).

It doesn't overwrite the existing workbook when it saves. It saves to a user
selectable folder. And when it's done, it either deletes these backups (or puts
them in the recycle bin). And the user can always restore the backups from the
recycle bin. So it still requires some vigilance on your part.

Maybe you could use a .bat file that would copy the files you want backed up.
Just create the .bat file, put a shortcut on your desktop and run that whenever
you want.
