backing up e-mails to flash drive

I want to save all my email messages to a USB flash drive. But every time I
go to file> export I get the message ‘could not export file - an error
occurred while initialising MAP1’ How do I sort out this problem please? I
have Tiscali 10 as my ISP, windows home XP.

So... how do I get Map1 to initialise? also IS this the proper way to
back-up email folders?

Help much appreciated!

Need a bit more information. What mail client are you using? Are you using
pop3 to download your email or are you logging into a mail server?

For Outlook Express, you would just need to send the "store" directory to
the USB key. No export required!
