Is there a simple way to back up my pictures to another drive and how do I
save my Favorites settings for Explorer? I have to reformat my C: drive due
to eBlaster spyware installed on it via a remote installation program.

You could burn them to a CD. (if you have a CD burner) Thats the
method I would use.
