I've recently split my database and placed the be on our server. The folder
that it's in is read/write accessible for everyone.

What's the easiest, most efficient means of backing up the be?

Back it up the way you would any other file. Just make sure that no one's
currently using it when you do. (You can tell if anyone is because there
will be a locking file--MyFile.ldb if your database is MyFile.mdb--in the
same folder when anyone's using it)

You might want to take a look at Total Access Admin, from FMS
