I continue to have disastrous problems with backgrounds.

Whenever I enter a filename (images/BtBrnd.jpg) in the background field it
enters the full pathname file:///C:/LivingStructures/images/BtB%20rnd.jpg
in the html code leaving me in the position that browsers look for the file
on the users hard drive which it cannot find (except on my computer so I
never see the problem).
I have re-initialized FP 2002. I have recreated the site and sanitized the
code (using new graphics, removing formatting and passing it through
Notepad, etc.) And for all my pages I have deleted the page background for
each page and selected them all to get background from another page and have
designated index.htm. But the cell or table backgrounds still do it.

I watched it carefully and noticed that if I change it in the HTML it stays
there when I save it but if I return to Normal View, then come back to HTML
it has changed it automatically.

As a workaround, I use the replace function from the HTML view of the
index.htm, save all, leave the page open and publish. It works but its more
than just a pain in the neck.

Is it possible I have an option or preference set wrong (and FP thinks I'm
on a server- which there is occasional evidence of "cannot find server" on
occasion) or some switch of some kind somewhere.

Any Ideas.

Are you Importing the image into FP first?

Also notice that...images/BtBrnd.jpg is different than ....images/BtB%20rnd.jpg (the %20 is a space...remove the space)

That is "usually" a sign that you only had a page open to edit and not the web and then the page.,
which can be caused by opening the web folder in windows, right clicking a file and then selecting
Edit with FrontPage.

Make sure you open FrontPage, then your web using File > Open Web.. and then a page to edit.

Also make sure the folder for LivingStructures has the blue Globe Icon on it indicating it is a
FrontPage Web.
If it doesn't browse to it using FrontPage, right click and select "Convert to web.

Make sure that you have opened a FP web / site in FP first before you have open the page and that
the image is in the current open FP web / site, then browse to the image file to insert it.

When you say you have "sanitized" the code and removed formatting, as well as opening it in notepad,
what is it that you have actually done?

In general, if you are going to use FP to manage and publish the site content, avoid using other
methods of editing or publishing the content. Let FP do what is designed to do, manage the site
content.

I had a similar problem with FP 2000, not with backgrounds but with ordinary
images. When I would correct it, however, it would stay corrected. I haven't
had this problem with FP 2003.

I have never had any problems with FP2000 with images or links in general, and I still use FP2000
for all development.

It seems to happen to some people and not to others. I could not figure out
what caused it.
