Background in Vista not showing up

Hello,
I feel pretty stupid but I can't seem to get any picture I select to show up
as my background. I all I can seem to do is change the color. I have tried
to right click on the picture and save it as my background, as well as going
into the Control Panel, Personalize appearance, desktop background. What am I
missing?

I speaking for Vista Ultimate.

Control Panel>>Appearance and Personalization>>Personalization>>Change
Desktop background>>Browse>> Navigate to your Photo gallery>>find the
picture you want (your girlfriend, mother, kids, etc. Highlight it. Double
click. You will see the picture on the background.

Some people have solved this issue by doing this:

If you can't change Desktop background - Start>Control Panel>Ease of
Access>Ease of Access Center. Under "Make things on the screen easier to
see", deselect the option "Remove background images (where available).
Select "Save".

If that doesn't help, download wallpaper_enable.reg from the following link
- http://www.winhelponline.com/fixes/wallpaper_enable.reg

Save the file to Desktop. Right-click on the file and then choose "Merge".
That fix is from MVP Ramesh and you can trust it.
