background images not showing up

We've created some htm templates to use as a snazzy type of signature
file. When my boss sends me an email, everything shows up fine. I'm
running office 97. When he sends it to any of my coworkers running
office 97, it shows up fine. But when he sends an email to himself or
one of our sales guys (both running outlook 03), a background image
doesn't show up. I've made sure I've specified the absolute url to the
image in the td and tr tags. I've made sure the cell contains a spacer
image. What's strange is that when he starts a new email, everything
shows up fine. It's just when he receives that same email back that
the bg image disappears. Any ideas? Thanks.
 
OL97 doesn't support HTML mail so I'm curious if you're running OL97 or OL98
(which added HTML support)
 
Hmmm, what versions of IE are you running on each system?
 
Hmm, a shot in the dark here... do the OL2003 users have the option on to
not download images? Check here: Tools menu > Options > Security tab
 
No, the thing is, all the other images of the sig show up. It's just
the table cell background image that isn't showing up.
 
Hmmm, try sending me one of these messages (if it's possible). I'd like to
take a quick look at one in OL2003
