Background gone

Not sure what has happened, but my background image on my desktop will not
display. All I get is a white screen. When I looked at the display
properties/desktop it will not let me change the background. It is not greyed
out it willl just not move (frozen)
If I log on as a different user it works, this only happens when logged on
as me, which is about all the time.
Also the fonts on web pages are multi colored if they are small. Large fonts
are still black.
This moniter is anly about 4 months old seems to look and work well other
than that.
I have done a system restore to a point before I switched monitors or the
problem appeared, no luck.
Run virus scans but turned up nothing.
Any ideas?

I was able to find a similar problem already posted and was able to fix the
problem. It was an entry in my registry that I had to delete.
