Background File List is a Mess

My Desktop Background File List has filenames listed twice and is pulling
filenames from MyDocuments\MyPictures folder.

It used to just use the System folder and one subfolder winxp\web\wallpaper.

I don't know what I did to screw it up or how to fix it. Any ideas?

Image files in the following folders are displayed under the "Display
Properties" (Desktop tab).

BMP Files from %Systemroot%.

BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM files from the following locations:

%Systemroot%\Web\Wallpaper
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Pictures (& sub-folders)
%AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
%ProgramFiles%\Plus!\Themes (& sub-folders)

If you want to remove a file from the background listing, move the file away
from the above locations.
