Ok, I'll try my best to describe what I'm looking for. Some time ago there
was this neat little program that would remove the background color on a web
page so you could see the print a lot better. Was of course a free program,
but being an older one not sure if still available it would work on windows
xp ? TIA for any info. Gimpy

Bookmarklets are stored as a favourite link,ie rightclick add to
favourites, or drag and drop on to IE links.

Other options:

Use a better web browser, Opera has a lot of settings for changing the
layout. Use your own favorite background, font, etc..
Freeware from opera.com

There is a web filter program called proxomitron, which rewrites each
webpage before it is shown in the browser, and you decide the rules.
There are filters for backgrounds changing, for example.

Opera now has a built-in javascript filter which you can use in the
same way.

I always use my own layout, and switch over to the web designers layout
only when I want to see how others see the same page.

Kill bright white backgrounds.

In a pinch, try clicking on the page then press Ctrl + A to select all.
Helps with those "cool" black on black pages, eg.

You can set this in the individual browser. In IE it's under Tools...,
Internet Options, Advanced Tab....turn off Print background colors and
images. In FF, look under Tools, Options...General tab, Fonts and
Colors...tell the browser to use your fonts and colors. In NS 7 look
under Edit...Preferences. Expand the Appearance classification then
select Fonts or Colors and tell the browser what to do. Hope this helps
a little.

Try clicking on Favorites, then click on the bookmarklet which should appear
on the list. If you have a lot of bookmarklets you might consider making a
subfolder for them in your favorites.

Thanks for this one Bob. I've just installed it on XP(SP2) with IE6. Works
fine except that it did not automatically install the button on the Toolbar.
After installing, go to View > Customize > add the Clarify button to the
right-hand panel.

Does anyone know how to stop the address bar from disappearing in IE6. I
keep having to go to Toolbars > Address Bar to restore it. Ticking "Lock
Toolbar" seems to have no effect. Is there any program which will prevent
this from happening?

Hi Frank. I've been using it for years.
As to your address bar problem, sorry, can't help.
I'll keep looking though as I have an XP laptop with the same problem.

I don't have a suggestion either, but FYI, I have XP on a desktop and I have
that same problem. However, I cannot use the "click" to restore it. It's just
gone and I can't get it back. I do a right click, properties to view and or
save it. But it's been a long while since I've seen the address bar. Perhaps
it's a 'glitch' in XP?
