Hello,

Because PSP won't work propaly on my computer, i gaoing back to XP.
But i want to export all my mail from Windows Mail to Outlook Express.
Is this possible and if yes, how ?

Regards,

Roelof

I used Outlook for E-mail and used outlook express only for newsgroups. My
old computer died from a motherboard problem so now I'm using Vista. Anyway,
I know with outlook express there was a way with a command line prompt to
have a shortcut for outlook express go directly to newsgroups. Can I do the
same for windows mail?

"C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\winmail.exe" /newsonly

Parentheses important!

Don't use that export format. Export using the MS Windows Mail format.
It saves the messages with a .eml extension which is compatible with
OE. You can drag those messages into any OE folder.

After struggling with Vista these last few month, I've also opted to go
back to XP.

I'm trying to find a way to save all of my mail. I'm currently using
Windows Mail, and my first thought was to export all of my mail in
"Microsoft Exchange" format. Then, when I install XP, I could Import it
into Outlook Express.

Two problems have arisen:
1. In Vista, I attempt to export into Microsoft Exchange Format. I get
a message that says "The export could not be performed. An error
occurred while initializing MAPI."
2. On my test XP system, when I try to import Microsoft Exchange format
I get a message that says "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI
client. No profiles are configured on this computer."

See my reply to another post to yours. Oh, heck; here it is:

You're making this too complicated.
WinMail keeps its messages in
C:\Users\[UserNsame]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders
You will see that there is a subfolder for each of the folders in WinMail.
The messages are stored in these subfolders as individual EML files.

Copy all of the folders to a convenient place in the machine that has OE.
Then you can drag all of these EML files into whatever folder you want in
OE. Once they are in OE they will lose the cryptic title and show up with
the proper subject..

Once again, even though you saved the EML files in their folders, you just
did that for convenience. The EML files are what you will actually drag
into OE.

Windows Mail stores messages in .EML format, the native message format for
Outlook Express. All you have to do is drag the .EML files into Outlook
Express folders.
