I've snagged it this morning and installed with no apparent problem.(XP
Home) I'll look it over after work today if I can and post back my
experience. The d/l file size is good at 84kb. I like that.

Install went smooth with basic option to select destination. Does not
install a Start Menu listing or desktop icon. When creating a "project"
pictures must be selected individually. Need ability to select multiple
images in one go.

Many image transition effects available, but be careful as some
transition effects are slow to render when building the slideshow. I made
2 projects...the first using only 3 images and no transition effects. Was
fast and painless. The second project was of 6 images, 3 of them small
(30-60kb each) and the other 3 large ( 500+ kb) and it took ~2 minutes to
render the project. When using a transition, multiple copies of the
original are created with each copy being a "step" in the transition
effect. The project folder grew from 6 images (1.75mb) to over 120
(175mb). That's not good.

After creating the slideshows, playback worked well and as expected.
However, it will not allow you to open an existing project to edit, just
to playback, even though the option is available. Doesn't work though :(

Overall, very much beta seems to me. It looks promising, but still a ways
to go yet.

Pros: Small download and fast install. No registry entries created.
Cons: Can't select multiple images in a single selection, Can't open an
existing project, "rendering" process slow when using transitions and
excessive hdd storgae space used.

You have your job cut out for you as there are already mature
"slideshow" makers/viewers available like Irfanview. I personally do not
use slideshows so a comparison against others I'm not able to provide. If
I were you, I'd be looking at Irfanview for what it looks like and how it
performs. The "standards" have been set. Babya viewer will need to meet
those and hopefully even exceed them. You're off to a good start looks
like. Good luck :)

Actually, I was able to reopen a project and it is still editable.

Did you try out some of the key commands available while running a
slideshow, as listed below?:

Using the Client:
There are various features that you can use to manipulate the playback of
the slideshow.

- Drawing:
- Press the number keys from 1-8 (not the number pad on the right) to
change the drawing color.
- Press P to toggle click-and-drag drawing. Clicking and holding the left
mouse button while moving the mouse draws a line on the image.
- Press D to toggle constant drawing. A line will be constantly drawn at
the cursor.
- Press E to erase any drawing on the image.
- Cursor:
- Press 9 to make the cursor invisible.
- Press 0 to make the cursor appear (the default arrow).
- Titles:
- Press N to make the title of the image appear in a gray box at the
bottom (the title will be in quotes). Press again to make it disappear.
- Press M to toggle the title of the image (without quotes).
- Locking:
- Press L to toggle locking. This will prevent the slide from advancing
when enabled, to avoid accidentally pressing a key or clicking.
- Locking does not work for timed slideshows.
- Exiting:
- Press Escape to exit the slideshow.
- Looped slideshows will not exit until Escape is pressed, while
non-looped slideshows will exit when they have completed.

Also have you tried the new Babya Photo Workshop 2 (so you could create new
images to use in slideshows-eg. for titles), if you'd like to try it out
and post a review here ?:http://tinyurl.com/3xtz2
