My AVG is dated 18/2/04 but I can't download an update. All I get is a
message "An automatic connection to the internet could not be established".
Any suggestions please.

Keep trying. It happened to me the last two times I updated.
Eventually it worked.

I'm going to ignore AVG updating for awhile and see if they
fix the problem. The two extra urls helped me update yesterday
but today it is back to the connection problem. Fortunately,
I have three other AVs, all of which I consider to be 'better'
over-all than AVG.

they've lost it! I am now in the process of switching all my clients to
Avast, I'm surprised at how sloppy they've been in addressing this problem
