AVG scanning mail when no mail is being sent

Can anybody explain to me why AVG keeps opening this small pop3 scanner
window when I am not sending mail ? I am not using outlook or outlook
express I am only using webmail.

I can tell you how to turn off the notifaction window.
AVG Control Center/E-Mail Scanner/Properties/Plugins/Properties/
uncheck in Progress/show window and/or icon

It sounds like your machine has been taken over by a bot that is spewing
spam without your knowledge.
