AVG (Free) email scan question

I have ver 7.5.516 running Vista with Opera as my browser and email client.

My question concerns the email scanning which seems to go on about every 5
minutes. I'd like to reduce that to just doing it on command or at least not so
often....but when I go to the Email Scanner options, I see there is no way to
change the frequency of the email scans.

My question is....is there any way of changing the frequency of the email scans
or do I have to buy the professional version.

I do know that I can disable the email scans...that would take care of it but
it's kind of extreme...besides the little icon in the system tray turns gray and
that annoys me.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Wuld it be that you have Opera set to check for new mail that often?
just a thought, since I don't use Opera for mail, I use Eudora and AVG
Free only scans when I check for mail and mail is being downloaded.

Yep, same using Pegasus and AVG.
AVG only checks during POP check/download.
Matter of fact, only time I ever see AVG doing it is if POP access is
slow for some reason or other or the email has a very large attachement.
Usually, it's so fast (cable) the AVG popup window doesn't even show.

I had email check to auto every 5 minutes. Changed it to every 15 minutes.
Maybe that will suffice.

Thanks guys...
