Weekend project cleaning a friends box...symptoms were (ME) slow, sluggish
on the internet he said and was receiving a lot of "undeliverable" returned
emails. (OE) They have a 14 yr.old boy using Kazaa Lite Surfing with IE,
he tells me they keep up with critical updates...hummm maybe. Oh and no av
or firewall. It's been a hey-day lol. (TIF's in the 10's of thousands) heh!

Yes, the dad has asked that I explain to them what is what when they come
to get the box LOL. I'm sure the 14 yr.old will be real interested hehe.

I've done this sort of thing several times, usually for friends, co-
workers, no pay except for the knowledge I gain with each "adventure". I
normally provide a txt file of what I found, what I did and what I've
uninstalled - installed. I forgot to mention, this is an ME install (old
Gateway) with 64mb ram. I'm suggesting a stick or two of ram!

If they are really friends you'd suggest a replacement for ME as well. That
has to be the worst bit of programming ever to come out of Redmond. Wait I
forgot about Bob. Not sure which was worse.

Wait, you forgot about XP (all flavors.) Every time I have to work on
a machine running that crapware, I groan in misery.

Personally, I use ME. Have hammered it into shape with freeware found
in this group and it now runs acceptably on my machine. But you're
right...out of the gate it sucks, big time.
