AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall Beta version comes with a predefined
license number. This number expires on June 15th 2005. The license
number is contained within the installation package.

Hmmm....could be just to ensure that the beta version doesn't hang
around for ever, though.

Absolutely. (I've seen the "expiring beta" in some cases where it was
simply that, though, so at the moment it's definitely a "wait and see"
rather than "jump to conclusions" thing.)

Indeed. I agree that "wait and see" is the best policy with such things.
Nothing worse than installing some beta prog you really like that
time-expires and later becomes payware that you can't afford ;)

To be honest, I probably won't try it anyway: although AVG has been
very good, I don't personally feel there's a yawning gap in the
market which demands to be filled with another firewall product,
freeware or not.

OTOH, I use AVG Free and Sygate Personal Firewall. I would certainly
be interested in a product that would allow me to eliminate one
start-up program, provided that the AVG firewall were as good as
Sygate.
