Does anyone in here have experience with AVG 6.0 free edition?
For example, if it finds a virus I have noticed it does not give me the
option to quarantine it, disinfect it or what have you!
Then I attempted to reach them, they do not offer e-mail support on the
free edition!!!!!!!!!!!! Which leads me to believe you MUST upgrade now to
the "professional" edition to get true protection.
All a SCAM really!

I dont have AVG installed now but from memory i believe in control centre
(right click the tray icon) tick "ask for confirmation" (i think its worded
that way). Its the option next to IE mail plugin box anyway. That should bring
up options when a virus is discovered.AVG free doesnt offer email support
by the way.

Well, no it doesn't have that option. It simply discovers the virus but I
cannot for the life of me, find where the hell it gives you the option to
disinfect the virus.
Thankfully it's not a malicious virus. Then reading the other headers in
here, I am noticing that maybe AVAST is the way for me to go!
Also, their FAQ section LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED!

Read the hundreds of threads in this newsgroup with 'AVG' in the
Subject line.

Try a better product?

Now you know why the Free Edition is free.

No, it's not a scam. They sell software for corporations, which is how
they make money. Out of the goodness of their hearts, they give a
lesser version away free for home use. You get what you pay for.

Thats very strange.Last time i had AVG installed (about 3 months ago )it had
the options under the resident shield tab in control centre they wer
confirmation and ask what to do next.If you dont tick these AVG will auto
clean/delete etc.Enabling these should give you the choice.

I use AVG6 Free and have for some time. Open the program by clicking on the
Icon, look under Program on the tool bar, click AVG Virus Vault. There's
Delete, Restore or Heal. Select one.

For help...try the Help file.

No scam....you just need to get a bit more acquainted with the program. ;-)

You are correct, there is a box for Confirm and one for Ask What To Do, but,
both selections are above the Save Parameters as New Default button, not the
update button, that's on the Update Manager tab. :)
