Avery Label 5388 won't format

Cannot find a pre-set format for Avery 5388 (3x5 index cards, three up).
Avery's instructions tell me to use a lot of buttons that are not on
Word/Office 2003. Can't figure out how to set up labels manually.

Where are you looking? I just located it with no trouble.

Go to Tools>Letters and Mailings>Mail Merge, click the Labels option on the
Task Pane, then click 'Next: Starting document' at the bottom of the pane. On
the next step, click the link for 'Label options' (beneath "Change document
layout').

In the Label Options dialog box make sure Laser & Inkjet is the selected
option and that Avery Standard appears in the Label Products: list. Click in
the list of Product Numbers: and type 5388, which will take you right to it,
then click OK to proceed.

A quicker way to get to the document (if you're not contemplating a mail
merge) is Tools | Letters and Mailings | Envelopes and Labels.
