Avant New Version notice

My " Avant " web browser issued a new version notice.
But no matter what I do, the notice will not go away.
I have to resort to CTL-ALT-DEL to close Avant completely,
which makes the program unuseable.

What happened?

Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks

It's a bug, supposedly corrected in the new version.
Uninstall Avant, then go download & install the new version and all
will be well.

I agree. I switched from Avant to Firefox about a month ago. FF is a very
slim, trim and fast browser. It can be customized to the users
specifications by downloading only the appropriate extensions. Avant
requires that you accept everything, even if you don't want it (ie. floating
toolbars for text, pictures and flash; similar web sites toolbar; mouse
gestures; adblocker etc.). Avant is a very good browser that would be even
better if it were to cut out alot of the bloat, and permit it's users that
choice of how they want it configured.

That's not true. I have Avant installed with no toolbars,
getstures, etc.
While it's not as configurable as FF, there is much that can
be controlled either when installing or with the Avant options.
I use FF most of the time, by Avant is useful for Windows
update and the occasional site which doesn't play well with FF.

One persons bloat is another persons most used feature. Avant does give you
the option of disabling pretty much anything you don't want and did I
mention it's just over 1MB? It certainly takes less time to disable any
features you don't want than it takes to download, install and configure a
single plugin for Firefox.

PS the issue you are encoutering was related to a bug in certain versions of
Avant. Simply install the latest version.
