Are you sure that you aren't able to access all of them. Some of the fonts
are used when you click on Italic or Bold within a program but won't show in
the program's listing of the fonts.

On my laptop's Windows\Fonts folder I show 1188 fonts but I only show
approximately 790 fonts in Word. This is because fonts like Times New Roman
has 4 fonts in the fonts folder but only shows one time in Word.

You'll find that you don't really want every font installed, but I
understand why you're curious; BTDT.
Go to Help and Support in the Start menu and search for fonts, then
how to install and uninstall them. Only certain fonts are installed by
default; if you want others, you have to install them. Installation
makes them available.
You can even download other fonts and install them.

I see. I have some business cards that don't print right on my new computer
because I don't have the fonts. I guess I'll try going to the disc that came
with it. If I don't find the fonts I need on it, where can I go for others?
Or should I just redsign the card? Thanks!

There are tens of thousands of places from which you may download fonts. I'd
list them here, but one of my fingers is bandaged and it's difficult to
type.

Try Google with the name of the font at issue.

Remember, a font cannot be copyrighted, but it's name can. That means you
may find fonts with different names that are identical.

I'll give him a little bit of help. But I agree Google!.

If the font is actually in the Fonts folder under Windows the font is
automatically installed when the font is placed in that folder. A simple
copy and paste or drag and drop is sufficient to start XP's font
installation routine.

You will find that all 250 of them are available. But some fonts are spread
over up to 4 files. This is where the bold and italic font is substantially
different to the normal font. If there is only a normal font then XP will
thicken the strokes or lean the font over (or both). Where there is a bold
or italic version XP will use that instead. To see this in action, open a
new word document and type the lower case 'a' using the Times New Roman
font. Now select it and italicise it. Do you see how the 'a' is now a
completely different character? This is because it is from another font
file. Most of the other letters are different though the difference is less
obvious than with the 'a'.
