Availability of Canon PIXMA iP8500

Since ip8500 uses non-chipped ink cartridges, I would like to buy this
model.
It seems that this model was completely depleted in the US.
I am wondering whether this model was discontinued. If that is the case, I
have no choice but to buy the current chipped model.
Please advise me. Craig

CHIPPED OR NON CHIPPED SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
