Here is one way. A better suggestion may come along.

You can recreate the entry by inserting the following in
the header Page { PAGE } of { NUMPAGES } where the { } is
entered with CTRL+F9. Select this, right click, and
choose update field. With the field still selected, press
ALT+F3 to create a new autotext entry and name the entry
Page X of Y.

When you close the document and you are asked if you want
to change the normal.dot click yes.

In Word 2002 the Page x of y in autotext is missing.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Word but it's not being
replaced. How can I fix this?
