Autotext (filename) not updating when saved in a template/form

By know I guess that you figured out that I'm not a Word expert!

One more question/problem...

I have inserted the Autotext 'filename' into the footer of my
template/form. However, when that form is saved it a new name, the new
filename doesn't show up (it just keeps the old filename).

Any ideas? Could I ask the user to input a file name into a Text Form
Feild and have that become the document name somehow?

P.S.
I have used the VBE code {filename} - inserted into the footer. Bu
still will not work.

Any other ideas. In summary, I'm stuck on these 3 things:

1)How to keep the autotext "document name" updated in a form (as th
form is saved to a new name this doesn't change).
2)Is there anyway to get a TOC to work in a form/template? Clicking o
a TOC entry in a template does nothing, but it's suppose to take you t
that point in the document. I guess it needs to autoupdate some how?
3)Is there anyway to add row to a Table in a Form? In a typicaly table
if you Tab to the end of the Row, a new Row appears below. But thi
doesn't work in a Form/Template.

If it is a header or footer, use print preview to update it. Otherwise you
have to select text including the field and press the F9 key. Either way, it
does not, will not, update automatically just by your saving under a
different name.

Your secondary questions may never be seen by the people who have the
answers. Many people go by the subject you give your message in deciding
whether to read your post. If they don't think they have anything to add on
that subject, they won't even read it.

Which version of Word are you using? On questions like this it can make a
big difference.

Here are my musings on your new questions:

1) Updating the document name. Put it in a header or footer. These get
updated when you print or use Print Preview.

2) TOC linking - I doubt there is any way. You could have the TOC in an
unprotected section but still the only place for the insertion point -
focus - to land in a protected section is in a form field, not on the
heading that is the source for your hyperlinks.

3) The prime use of the Tab key in protected forms is to move to the next
field. The only way to add a row to a table in a protected section is to
unprotect the section. You can have macros to do this. I have a billing
template that has macros to enter time, expenses, and payments in three
different tables. There are macros that first check to see if the first row
has been used. If it has not, it takes the user to the date field in that
first row of the table. If that row has been used, it inserts a new row in
the appropriate table before the last row which contains totals. In the new
row it uses AutoText to insert the appropriate formfields. Then in
reprotects the form and takes the user to the date field of the new row.
There are other macros for inserting and deleting rows. All of the macros
are both on a custom toolbar and have F-key assignments in the template.

This isn't easy but it is very nice when it all works. I put it together for
a user who blanks out at the mention of things like tables or fields.
