I've tried several programs which display start-up programs. This one allows
programs to be disabled and has a feature I've not seen before -- showing
only non-Microsoft items.

Frank,

I use autoruns too although it does not give you information about the
startups it finds. I quite like Startup Inspector, at
http://www.windowsstartup.com/, which finds the startup programs and links
to the web site to provide important information on 4,000+ known startups.
