I'm not able to open my C drive from "My Computer." There is no drive icon
(just an "unknown" icon), and when I click on it I get the message "windows
cannot find autorun.exe." How can I fix this? Do I need to?

to terminate the application. I cget this messagle when I try to use a CD

Right-click C:\ drive and choose "open"
Delete the file named autorun.inf
Restart Windows.

Thanks, Bob. When I open C:\ I don't find a file called "autorun.ini".
There's one called "autorun", but it's a text file described as "setup
information. Any other ideas?

you apparently aren't set to display extensions of known types. You may
set them to display in Folder Options. The file may be deleted to
correct the issue you are having.

No, I'm displaying extensions. the autorun.exe file isn't there. I've done a
search, and all the files with "autorun" are notepad files in various
programs.

The file extension for known types may be hidden. Here is how you show the
file extension.

a. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Folder Options.
b. Click the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders, click to clear
the Hide extensions for known file types check box, click Apply, and then
click OK.

Just remove it from the root of C:

Found it, deleted it, problem fixed. Thanks for your patience!
