AutoRecover is slow in Excel 2007

AutoRecover in Excel 2007 is exceedingly slow and makes the program unusable
while it is working (backing up my spreadsheets).

I work on a couple of spreadsheets at a time, have autorecover (autosave)
running every 7 minutes, and they backup to my hard-drive, but it takes 15 -
30 seconds each time disrupting my work process.

Is this a known problem? Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

Please let me know what your experience with autorecover is. Thanks.

I too am suffering from autorecover freezing.
Maxing out one my processor cores.
Generally when I am working on large spreadsheets with complex formulae and
external links.

Just wondered if you managed to come across a solution.

Darren - that is exactly when my processor maxes out too - when I have large
spreadsheets open and/or ones with many external links. Very annoying and a
big sap on productivity. Unfortunately, I have no found solution. Have
tried setting the backup to a local drive (as opposed to the network) but
this doesn't help.

I'm experiencing a similar problem. Plase let me know if you find any
solution or information.
Thanks,
