It doesn't seem to matter what settings I alter, I just
cannot get autoplay to work anymore. Does anyone have any
tips where I can look to alter or change anything to get
it going again?

Hi!Don!
Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services>Shell Hardware
Detection>Return this service to Automatic.

Start>Run>Gpedit.msc>Computer Configuration>Administrative
Templates>System. Check settingsif it is Turn Off AutoPlay then modify.

Start>Run>Regedit>Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet\Services\Cdrom. AutoRun = 1

Hi!Don!

This is set to automatic already.
Start>Run>Gpedit.msc>Computer Configuration>Administrative

AutoPlay then modify.

I have a query about Gpedit.msc - this is not on my
system, could you please clarify?

Start>Run>Regedit>Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet\Services\Cdrom.
AutoRun = 1

I have ControlSet001, ControlSet002 and
CurrentControlSet, if you mean CurrentControlSet the
entry for CDROM - Autorun says REG_DWORD 0x0000000 (1)

There is an entry following this headed
AutoRunAlwaysDisable that contains a long string in the
Data field as follows:

NEC MBR-7
NEC MBR-7.4
PIONEER CHANGR DRM-1804X
PIONEER CD-ROM DRM-6324X
PIONEER CD-ROM DRM-624X
TORiSAN CD-ROM CDR_C36

I am confused !!

Thanks again
