Autoplay interferes with CD copying

John

Every time I try to copy a CD, the process is interrupted
by the autoplay window popping up randomly and asking what
I would like to do with the CD. I try changing the
autoplay properties on the CD drives by telling it to not
prompt me, and take no action every time I insert a CD. It
doesn't stay changed, though. It keeps going back
to "Prompt me each time to choose an action." Anyone know
what to do about this?

De-select autoplay. The Help files will tell you hjow to do this -
that f1 key may be the most important one on your keypad.

Holding the shift key down while inserting a new CD will bypass any
autoplay actions. You have to hold the key down until the light on the
CDrom drive stops blinking. Or use TweakUI to disable autoplay altogether.
The settings is under My Computer> Autoplay.

TweakUI is one of the Power toys for XP. This URL links to the version that
is for XP with SP1 only:

If you do not have SP1, the earlier version can be found at:

iPowertoySetup.exe
