autoplay does not work when cd inserted

The autoplay function on my cd drives stopped working
some time ago. I see there is a fix available but you
have to pay to get it. The file is
Q817357_wxp_sp2_x86_enu.exe. Does anyone have this fix
and would be willing to share it? Any help would be
appreciated.

You need to call Microsoft Product Support Services for this hotfix. Before that, you may try Autofix Repair tool. The Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard scans your computer devices to find defective AutoPlay settings, and attempts to fix those it finds.
