Autoplay craziness

When I bring my external USB hard drive online I get an Autoplay operation
going.

Suddenly I am getting TWO Autoplay operations going on - two sets of
dialog - within seconds of each other. Each one must be dismissed
separately.

I really don't care that much how it started. How can I stop it?

I would just disable autoplay. Something that should be done anyway.
