I'd really like to be able to hae an auto number in the middle of a paragraph
such as:

This thing (shall -1) do this.

Obviously where the shall -1 is the autonumber. Is this possible at all?

Ok, but using the Caption to do it only allows the number to show above or
below the insertion point. How else do i use these SEQ fields?

My whole line turns blue. That's not what I'm looking for.

I type - This (insert caption (shall - 1)) does this. - and as soon as I do
the line turns blue. Anyway around that? i'd really like the insert to be
bold and black and obviously not turn the whole line blue.

Although captions do use SEQ fields, you don't want or need a caption, just
the field itself. You can insert a SEQ field using Insert | Field, or you
can just press Ctrl+F9 and type SEQ anything between the braces. The name
that follows SEQ is the name of your sequence or list. Every time you
insert a new SEQ field with this list name, you'll get a new number. SEQ
fields don't update automatically, however, so you'll have to F9 to see the
new number. You can save your SEQ field as an AutoText entry.

Be sure to read the Instructions, Switches, and Examples in the Help topic.
Also note the caveat that a LISTNUM field may be more suitable. For that,
see the Help topic "Field codes: ListNum field."

Ya, they have to auto-increment/update or it do3es me no good. I'll have to
take a look at the LISTNUM field.

LISTNUM works perfectly! Thank you.

How do I create a new FIELD that I can insert into any document? I want to
be able to selcet something like SHALL when I insert a FIELD. How woud I do
that?

Ctrl+F9 and type the field syntax or use Insert | Field. You can save this
as an AutoText entry.

That's Freekin' Awesome! Thank you. Any chance of changing font or color or
bold or do you have to do that manually?
