Automatically Updating Form Fields

Is there a way to create a form field in a PowerPoint presentation that will
automatically update certain dates in the presentation?
 
Kind of, but it has lots of restrictions. Can you tell us a bit more about
how you want to use it?

Also ...
What version of PowerPoint?
Will it need to be able to run on the viewer?
Will it be for distribution?
Do you control the computers it will run on?
