I have a problem in Outlook when every time I create a
new email message and start typing, the text
automatically becomes underlined as I start typing. Does
anybody know how to turn this off?

I hope you get an answer to this. It should be part of the Template
file. I have been trying to find mine so I can change the defaults that
have somehow been set to a white colored font. I have found it is a good
way to say nothing.

If using Word to edit msgs, that you have set the font within this

I am not sure I understand what you are saying. Word does keep font
information with each DOC file, but when creating a new file it is based on
a DOT (Template) file. The default for Word is called Normal.DOT. MS has
gone to a great deal of trouble to keep you from messing with that file and
generally keeps three copies of it. I am assuming that Outlook also uses
some sort of Template, but I have not been able to locate it or find out how
to edit it (you can edit Normal.DOT) or revert to the standard. It appears
that my original has been corrupted and now has some really strange
styles.(a style includes font information as well as other formatting
information.).

If you delete normal.dot it will be recreated on using word
There are not necessarily 3 normal.dot templates on a sys, the file
contained in \Docs & settings can differ from the file contained in
Office\Templates

Meant to say also, may be using the email.dot template

I would like to thank you. While I had found email.dot, two different
copies with different dates and sizes, but they did not seem to be the
problem. However I got to playing around with it again. While checking
things out again, I found it was set for HTML format. Changing that,
brought things back to where they should be.

I now remember switching to HTML to try and eliminate another problem
for someone else and I guess I did not switch it back.

I do think that the email.dot may be the solution for Leslie.

Good luck Leslie. You also may try setting the default document to
plain text if it is not there now.
