automatically enable macros

Is there anyway to automatically enable macros on startup
of Excel (2000) instead of having users click the
Enable/Disable button?

Lisa, do a search on digital certificate in the help file and see if that
helps you

Paul-
I did check out the digital certificate and trusted
sources area. This is not a feasible option for me for
two reasons: the people utilizing this tool do not utilize
digital certs and the sys admin has blocked people from
adding trusted sources somehow. I can't get it to work.

Is there not VB code or something that could be written to
execute on startup to automatically enable macros?

Lisa,

There is no way to disable the macro warning by code. If there was that would be the first thing a virus maker would do :)

One way to get rid of the warning dialog generally is to lower the security level in Excel, Tools>Options>Security>Macro Security (or something similar), but that means to expose the system to macro viruses and is *strongly* not recommended. Don't do it.

If the macro warning is triggered by workbooks in your startup folder, one way may be to put the code in an add-in and manually install it - no more warnings from workbooks you use every day
